  • Ashlesha (ஆயில்யம்): The Entwined

Placement: 16° 40’ to 30° 00’ of Cancer Element: Water (Neer) Pushkara Navamsha/Bhaga: NA Gandanta Nakshatra Ashlesha is the ninth nakshatra in the series, linked to the element of water, which denotes emotions, intuition, and fluidity. It supports psychic and spiritual development, particularly through yogic practices, meditation, and self-inquiry. Some nakshatras are believed to be especially auspicious for certain purposes, such as spiritual pursuits, psychic abilities, or healing practices. One such nakshatra is Ashlesha, also known as the "entwined" or "embracing" one. The word "Ashlesha" derives from the term "Shesha", which means snake. Shesha represents the primal life force, kundalini energy, and transformational power. Ashlesha is associated with snakes, particularly cobra or python, which symbolize primal instincts, regeneration, and wisdom. It is also associated with burrows, tunnels, and deep caves. Deity: its ruling deity is "Naga", a clan of higher beings with supernatural abilities. According to Vedic texts, Nagas have a human body atop a serpent's lower body, and some believe they transform into full snakes during nighttime. Nagas were considered enlightened beings with special skills related to chakras and siddhis. They were prominent mystics, tantrics, and hypnotists who once ruled a kingdom flourishing with super intelligence. However, they eventually left earth for celestial realms. While today's snakes are considered part of the Naga clan, they are believed to be less intelligent beings that remained on earth. In Vedic culture, snakes are associated with many gods and goddesses, such as Vishnu, Shiva, and Kartikeya, due to their representation of supernatural abilities through kundalini shakti. Additionally, many ancient cultures have used snake poison to make certain chemicals that alter reality. To further understand the significance of snakes, you may explore the Rohini and Mrigashirsha nakshatras. Rahu and Ketu, also known as the North and South nodes, are depicted as serpent beings with their severed bodies attached to the tail and head of a serpent. Symbol: The symbol associated with Ashlesha nakshatra is a coiled snake. This unique symbol represents the domains of medicine, kundalini energy, and karma. The coiled snake can be interpreted as being at rest or in a poised position, ready to strike if necessary. Ruler: Mercury, also known as Budha, is the ruling planet of this nakshatra. He is known for his skills in alchemy and research. The ever-changing nature of Mercury is highlighted in this nakshatra. Animal: Male cat. Cats are known for their highly intuitive, hypnotic, and independent nature, as well as their ruthless hunting skills. Guna: Ashlesha is a Rajasic nakshatra that emphasizes action, transformation, and the development of higher intelligence. Power: Ashlesha nakshatra represents the "Vis Ashleshana Shakti", which is the power to inflict poison to defeat enemies or prey. General attributes: Individuals born under the Ashlesha nakshatra possess heightened intuition and exceptional concentration abilities. Despite being associated with the nurturing sign of Cancer, they may exhibit ruthlessly pragmatic tendencies. Their interests in chemical experiments and alchemy may be noticeable in their daily routines. They approach sexuality with a deep understanding rather than for mere pleasure. If necessary, they can be highly manipulative to achieve their goals. The Ashlesha nakshatra is connected with fields such as drugs, poisons, mental health, the porn industry, secret services, and mysticism, among others. As an earthly nakshatra with deep roots, spiritual transformation may occur in the native's life. Balancing the root chakra is crucial for a harmonious life. The natives born under this nakshatra are said to possess a heightened sensitivity to subtle energies, a deep intuition, and a natural curiosity for the unknown. They may also have an innate talent for healing, counseling, or teaching, as well as a keen interest in esoteric or occult knowledge. At the same time, Ashlesha natives may also struggle with certain challenges, such as emotional instability, anxiety, or self-doubt. The snake symbolism of the nakshatra suggests that they may have a tendency to entangle themselves in complex or toxic relationships, either with others or with their own psyche. However, if they learn to channel their energies in a constructive way, they can use their intuitive and transformative powers to break free from their limitations and tap into their full potential. It should be noted that these are general characteristics, and individual differences may exist. Remedies: Some remedies for mitigating the challenges associated with Ashlesha nakshatra include performing mantras or prayers to Naga or Mercury, practicing hatha yoga or kundalini yoga, and refraining from excessive drinking as it can be toxic for individuals born under this nakshatra to handle. Previous Next Back

  • Magha (மகம்): The Ancestral Throne

Placement: 00° 00’ to 13° 20’ of Leo Element: Water (Neer) Pushkara Navamsha/Bhaga: NA Gandanta Nakshatra This nakshatra exudes regal qualities and is strongly associated with kings, queens, monarchs, and royal societies. Located in the early degrees of the Leo zodiac, it is the brightest star in the Leo (Simha) constellation, which further emphasizes its close link to kingly attributes. Symbol: The symbol of this nakshatra is the throne and throne room, representing power, high status, administration, and traditional values. The concepts of kingship, lions, and thrones are all interconnected with the idea of royalty, which is embodied by this nakshatra. Deity: The deity associated with this nakshatra is Pitris (The Ancestors), as acquiring a kingly status or a throne requires a deep understanding of, and reverence for, past traditions. An individual's identity is closely linked to their familial lineage and ancestral history. In Puranas, Pitris are believed to reside in Pitra Loka after departing from Earth. According to tradition, the blessings of one's ancestors are essential for success, even before seeking the blessings of the gods. Our direct ancestors, such as grandfathers, as well as the forefathers of all humanity known as Pitru Devatas, are the reason for our existence. According to the Ganesha Purana, Lord Brahma was tasked with creating the Universe after emerging from Lord Vishnu's naval. Initially, Brahma attempted to create the universe without first worshipping Lord Ganesha, but his creations were flawed and incomplete. Upon realizing his mistake, Brahma sought out Lord Ganesha and began to worship him. Ganesha, who had been in deep meditation, opened his eyes and saw Brahma there. He took Brahma into his hands and swallowed him, which shocked Brahma. However, inside Ganesha's stomach, the entire universe had already been manifested. Ganesha then released Brahma and advised him to create the universe according to what he had seen. The creations that Brahma had initially made became the Pitru Devatas, as they were the reason for the universe being created in the way it was intended to be. Guna: As the foremost among tamasic nakshatras, this nakshatra is focused on the pursuit of power and claiming what is rightfully one's own. Tamas, representing the pursuit of pleasure through material means, is a defining characteristic of this nakshatra. Ruler: Ketu is the ruler of this nakshatra and represents the impact of our past life actions and decisions. It is considered the most independent among the grahas because it lacks a head, and it is also the oldest among the navagrahas (nine planets), which explains why it holds the position of ruler for this nakshatra. Animal: The animal associated with this nakshatra is the male rat. Like lions, rats tend to have large families and are known for their active sexual life. These intelligent and energetic rodents are also associated with Lord Ganesha, further emphasizing the connection with Ketu. Power: Magha is associated with the power of "Tyaga Shepani Shakti", which refers to the soul's ability to disconnect from the physical body. This nakshatra guides the soul to Pitra Loka after death, serving as a facilitator for the transition between states. Ultimately, Magha represents the power to bring about a change in one's spiritual state. General attributes: Individuals born under Magha nakshatra are likely to have a strong connection to their past, possessing a natural talent for remembering things for a long time. However, they may also become overly preoccupied with the past, potentially losing sight of the present moment. Spirituality can help guide them towards righteousness and dharma. The success of these individuals is closely linked to their ancestral lineage, and they may prioritize achieving high status over acquiring material wealth. With an active sex life and potential for a large family, connecting with their ancestors through prayers and offerings is believed to be key for success. As we see in the movie "Coco", the ancestral world and our world are connected, and blessings from the ancestors can be received through offerings. Ultimately, the body is merely a vessel for the soul, and these are general qualities associated with Magha nakshatra. Reader discretion is advised. Specialties: Planetary placement in Magha is considered auspicious, as the blessings of Pitris are considered more significant than those of the Gods, and they are more easily pleased by offerings. Lord Saturn is also associated with the Pitris, and the crow is seen as the vehicle of Lord Saturn. Therefore, offering food to crows is considered an offering to the ancestors. Additionally, Amavasya tithi (new moon day) is also associated with the Pitris and Saturn. Previous Next Back

They require relaxation to perform well and may also possess spiritual and logical intelligence. This nakshatra offers mental and spiritual fulfillment and can produce great thinkers, scientists, philosophers, theorists, and spiritualists. Please note that these are general qualities and individual variation is possible. “On the downside, Purva Phalguni makes the native lazy, careless and pursuant of meaningless happiness (addiction). They may tend to think and speak a lot about doing something than actually doing it.” Leo and its nakshatras: Leo is considered a regal zodiac sign and its ruling planet, the Sun, is associated with royalty. All nakshatras in Leo are characterized by kingly traits, but Purva Phalguni is particularly strong due to its central position in the sign. In ancient India, Purva Phalguni was associated with powerful kings who were wealthy and also known for promoting arts, science, culture, and traditions in their society. Previous Next Back

They possess a complex understanding of God, which often leads to deep introspection. It's important to note that these are general qualities, and individual experiences may vary. The first and fourth padas are particularly good due to their association with Jupiter (Pushkara Navamsha), although all four padas have their own strengths. • Hasta (அஸ்தம்): The Magician

Placement: 10° 00’ to 23° 20’ of Virgo Element: Fire (Agni) Pushkara Navamsha/Bhaga: 2nd pada/NA This nakshatra emphasizes the importance of focus and attention to detail, as these qualities are essential for the magic to happen. The name "Hasta" in Sanskrit means "hands", specifically referring to the palm, and is represented by five stars symbolizing the five fingers. It possesses the ability to manifest desires through the use of hands. As hands are the primary tools we use to perform daily tasks, Hasta is considered an action-oriented nakshatra. Natural healers: Ashwini, Ardra, Pushya, Hasta, Anuradha, Moola, Dhanishta, Satabishak, Revati. Symbol: Hasta nakshatra's symbolism includes the "hands", particularly the palm region, and the "potter's wheel". The hands represent actions, future (as seen in palmistry), support, warmth, giving and receiving, trickery, hand symbols, and communication (as in sign language). Therefore, this nakshatra is capable of multitasking. The potter's wheel symbolizes hard work, refinement, and the time required to achieve perfection. Hasta nakshatra places great importance on time and achieving perfection. Deity: The deity associated with Hasta nakshatra is the Sun God "Savitur," who is one of the 12 Adityas. Savitur represents the first rays of the morning sun that fall on the earth. It is believed that by chanting the "Gayatri Mantra" from the Rig Veda bestowed by Sage Vishwamitra, we worship Savitur, the God of this nakshatra, every day. | Om Bhur Bhuvah Svah, Tat Savitur Varenyam, Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi, Dhiyo Yo Nah, Prachodayat || As we are aware, mantras have a deep connection with spirituality, memory, and the power of the mind. Thus, the Hasta nakshatra is closely associated with mantras and hand gestures, also known as mudras, which are used during mantra chanting. Ruler: As Moon rules over this nakshatra, it is considered a worldly one that deals with practical matters. Being associated with the Sun, Moon, and Mercury (all padas are in Virgo), it has a strong connection to cultural values and traditions of civilizations. Mercury's duality adds to this energy, with the ability to change rapidly without detection. Thus, we can see a combination of Sun and Moon's energy with Mercury's duality, creating a birthplace for magic, trickery, tactics, enchantments, and other such phenomena. Animal: The female buffalo, though slow in its movements, contributes to the carefulness and balance associated with this nakshatra. Guna: Chitra is a tamasic nakshatra that places a significant emphasis on creating balance in the mundane and materialistic aspects of life. Power: It symbolizes the power of "Hasta Sthapaniya Agama Shakti" which enables one to quickly manifest their desires into reality. General attributes: People born under the Hasta nakshatra are believed to have a natural inclination towards magic, although they may not necessarily be professional magicians. They may enjoy performing tricks occasionally and their connection to this nakshatra is believed to be due to the fact that magicians often use their hands to perform their tricks. Because hands are essential for almost all tasks, Hasta nakshatra is generally considered favorable for skilled workers. For instance, if someone is an excellent cook, it is often said that their hands work magic in the kitchen. In addition, the Sanskrit word "Has" in the name Hasta means "laughter," suggesting that those born under this nakshatra have the ability to make clever decisions and bring joy to others. To better comprehend nakshatras, try to envision them as a person or entity. This method is also part of Hasta's skillset, which includes number crunching and memory patterns. Hasta associates memories with objects, making it easier to retain information for longer periods of time. This approach is similar to how deaf musicians associate notes with colors and blind individuals link smells to specific materials. Keep in mind that these are general qualities, and reader discretion is advised. Political Party: If you're from India then you may wonder if the famous political party "Indian National Congress" has anything to do with "Hasta" as their party symbols are nothing but hands. Yes, you are right, you can understand a lot about Hasta by reading their history. Previous Next Back

  • Chitra (சித்திரை): Artistic

Placement: 23° 00’ of Virgo to 06° 40’ of Libra Element: Fire (Agni) Pushkara Navamsha/Bhaga: NA Chitra nakshatra is associated with the feminine aspect of creation, which is creativity. The term Chitra means "arts" in Sanskrit, which includes various forms of creative expression such as paintings, drawings, and other forms of artistic expression. Additionally, Chitra is associated with beauty, fashion, brightness, shining, colorful, and alternative reality such as virtual and augmented reality. All of these meanings reflect the illusory aspect of the Universe, which is also referred to as Maya. In modern understanding, we use the term "Matrix" to describe the technical aspects of the Universe. However, Maya is a more profound term that describes the creation of the Universe, the nature of God, and the concept of Karma. Deity: The ruling deity of Chitra nakshatra is Vishwakarma, also known as Tvastar, who is one of the twelve Adityas or Solar deities. Vishwakarma is regarded as a celestial architect who has created magnificent architectural wonders for the Devas and Asuras. The Mahabharata also mentions that the Pandavas sought Vishwakarma's expertise in constructing a palace that was ahead of its time, with technology that is beyond modern imagination. Chitra represents the first Solar month in the Hindu calendar, and Goddess Chitra Devi is another deity associated with this nakshatra. She is also the deity of the tithis Purnima (full moon) and Amavasya (new moon), which illustrates the concept that both light and dark are created by the same underlying reality, Maya. In other words, the same illusionary power is responsible for creating both positive and negative experiences, light and darkness, good and bad moments, day and night, and male and female genders. Ruler: The nakshatra is ruled by Mars (Mangal), which enhances the creation aspect of this nakshatra by facilitating immediate physical actions. Whatever comes to mind gets its immediate physical manifestation due to Mars' influence. Symbol: Chitra is symbolized by gemstones, particularly pearls, which represent the fine craftsmanship of nature. Just like how gemstones take time to form in nature but instantly attract us, Chitra represents the natural beauty and craftsmanship that can be found in things such as caves, mountains, and waterfalls. Animal: The animal associated with Chitra is the female tiger. Tigers are considered to be the most majestic big cats in the world due to their unique patterns and textures on their skin. The beauty, power, and dominance of a tiger reflects the qualities of Chitra, which represents the artistry, elegance, and fierceness found in nature. Guna: Chitra is classified as a Tamasic nakshatra with a strong emphasis on materialistic precision. Its focus on attention to detail makes it one of the most Tamasic nakshatras. Power: Chitra represents the "Punya Chayani Shakti", which is the power to accumulate merit in one's life. This merit is not only earned through hard work, but also through attention to detail and craftsmanship. General attributes: Chitra is the next nakshatra after Hasta, which is associated with magic and refinement. In contrast, Chitra represents a more detailed and refined form of magic, akin to a full-scale illusion. It's like the difference between a stage show and a feature film. While you can easily recognize when someone is performing a magic trick, it's not so easy to distinguish an illusion. Chitra's illusions have the potential to achieve perfection, adding to the overall picture of what the native may be like. However, it's important to note that there is a difference between the influences of Chitra in the signs of Virgo and Libra. Chitra is a unique nakshatra with its first two padas located in Virgo and the next two in Libra. In the Virgo section, Chitra exhibits exceptional attention to detail and a meticulous approach to work, resulting in the creation of technological marvels that we use today. Those born under this section may possess a talent for comprehending complex engineering concepts and utilizing them to their advantage. They value structure, balance, and precision. On the other hand, the Libra section of Chitra is more focused on human relationships, arts, fashion, and beauty, as it is influenced by Libra and Venus. People under this section may have an irresistible charm, particularly women with Venus in this nakshatra, who are believed to be the most attractive. However, Mars' influence on this nakshatra can create disharmony in marital relationships, particularly when the 7th house and 7th lord are afflicted. It's important to note that these are general qualities and individual experiences may vary. Chitra has a higher aspect that may provide the native with a clear vision of the core reality of existence and multi-dimensions, enabling them to move beyond societal norms. However, the lower aspect may result in the native being trapped in their own illusions and struggling to cope with them. Remedy: Moreover, Chitra is closely linked with Rahu. To mitigate its malefic influence, it is recommended to worship Goddess Durga and regularly recite the mantra “Om Shri Durgayai Namaha”. Previous Next Back

  • Swati (சுவாதி): The Unique One

Placement: 06° 40’ to 20° 00’ of Libra Element: Fire (Agni) Pushkara Navamsha/Bhaga: 4th pada/NA Ruler: Swati is ruled by the planet Rahu, which is classified as an air planet (vata graha). It is interesting to note that the zodiac sign of Libra, is also an air sign. Swati is considered an outcast nakshatra due to Rahu's rulership and Saturn's exaltation, which makes it unique and different from the norm. It is worth noting that all three nakshatras ruled by Rahu, namely Ardra, Swati, and Satabishak, are located in the heart of air signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius). Deity: The presiding deity of Swati is Lord Vayudeva, the God of wind, who represents movement, change, and transformation, who is responsible for carrying the seeds of life and bringing about new beginnings. In Hindu mythology, he is the father of Lord Hanuman (Ramayana) and Bhima (Mahabharata), and represents physical strength and power. Additionally, Swati is associated with the goddess Saraswati, who is the deity of knowledge, wisdom, intellectual mind, and memory power, and is the patroness of all 64 different arts. Symbol: The symbol of Swati represents "a young plant shoot swaying in the wind", which signifies the nakshatra's ability to adapt and change quickly. Animal: The animal associated with Swati nakshatra is the male buffalo. Although buffaloes are known for their slow pace, Swati's dynamic and ever-changing nature can make it completely opposite to its fundamental nature, showcasing its unexpected qualities. Guna: Swati nakshatra is considered tamasic in nature, and its energy is directed towards maintaining balance and harmony in the material world around it. Power: Swati is associated with "Pradhvamsa Shakti", which represents the power to be like wind. Wind has various qualities such as expanding, dispersing, scattering and moving away swiftly. This is why natural phenomena such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and cyclones are connected to Swati. General attributes: Swati natives may find it hard to maintain stability and balance due to their ever-changing nature, particularly at a young age. However, they are highly social, adaptable to different situations, and always striving to acquire more knowledge. Due to Rahu's rulership and Saturn's exaltation, they may also have a rebellious streak. They need to be reminded of their abilities constantly, which is connected to Lord Hanuman, which means they may be late winners. They have the ability to find happiness in simple things and not be bothered much about huge responsibilities, much like the buffalo assigned to this nakshatra. Swati natives should plan for the long term as that's when their individuality will flourish. They listen to everything and everyone, but their success lies in their ability to find balance and act as the balancing energy wherever they are. Swati is a pivotal nakshatra in the natural zodiac belt and embodies all three qualities of sattva, rajas, and tamas. The 4th pada of Swati is a "Pushkara Navamsha" pada that falls in Pisces in the navamsha (D9), which is auspicious for the native and will bestow good mental and intellectual stability. These are general qualities, and reader discretion is advised. Hanuman Jayanti: Every year, the birth of Lord Hanuman is celebrated on the day of Swati in the month of Ashwina (between April and May) in North India. Lord Hanuman, a monkey God from the epic Ramayana, played a crucial role in assisting Lord Ram in his battle against Ravana. Although very powerful, Hanuman forgot his powers at a young age due to a curse, only to be reminded of them by a friend in his adulthood. Previous Next Back

  • Vishakha (விசாகம்): Celebrations

Placement: 20°00’ of Libra to 03°20’ of Scorpio Element: Fire (Agni) Pushkara Navamsha/Bhaga: 2nd and 4th Pada/24° Libra Vishakha nakshatra is located in a significant position between the natural 7th and 8th houses of Libra and Scorpio respectively. The 7th house is associated with desire (kama) while the 8th house is related to the comfort and satisfaction that comes from fulfilling those desires (moksha). Thus, Vishakha serves as a bridge between one's desires and their fulfillment. While all Jupiter-ruled nakshatras lie between kama and moksha houses, Vishakha is unique because it also leads to Scorpio, a sign associated with secrecy and unexplored territory. Vishakha is also known as Radha, meaning joy and delight, reflecting its devotion and dedication towards fulfilling desires. It is constantly seeking new opportunities and is a daring and adventurous nakshatra, representing the process of evolution which often involves unexpected twists and turns. With Vyapana Shakti, the power to expand and make things grow, Vishakha's second pada is considered the most auspicious with both Pushkara Navamsha and Pushkara Bhaga. Deity: The ruling deities of Vishakha nakshatra are Indra and Agni, whose energies blend together in this nakshatra. Indra, the king of heavens, rules over all the planets, while Agni is the God of fire who also governs Krittika nakshatra. Indra wields a thunderbolt and Agni controls fire, both of which are equally powerful and occasionally engage in conflict. Despite this, they also rely on each other. As a result, Vishakha is strongly associated with electricity and fire, which have played a crucial role in the development of human civilization, from the Stone Age to modern times. Symbol: The symbol of Vishakha is a "decorated/triumphal arch", which signifies victory, celebration, or a significant/historic event. Another symbol associated with this nakshatra is a lightning bolt split in the shape of a 'V', representing the split pathways that Vishakha can take to achieve its destiny. Ruler: The ruler of Vishakha is Jupiter (Guru), it is the second nakshatra ruled by Jupiter. Each Jupiter-ruled nakshatra has distinct qualities that reflect the many facets of Jupiter's nature. For example, Punarvasu is associated with dharma, Vishakha with kama, and Purva Bhadrapada with moksha. Animal: The male tiger is the largest of all big cats, with a gigantic size and an insatiable appetite. Its unique stripes make it a spectacular sight, distinguishing it from other big cats. Additionally, tigers are skilled at jumping great heights, despite their body weight. These qualities are reflected in both Vishakha and Chitra nakshatras. Guna: The tamasic nature of Vishakha makes individuals born under this nakshatra highly dedicated and attached to achieving their goals. Power: Its energy is embodied by "Vyapana Shakti", which represents the power of manifestation and accomplishment. Read about the month of Vishakha General attributes: Individuals born under Vishakha nakshatra are driven and determined to achieve their goals at any cost. They possess a unique ability to influence and persuade others, expanding their ideas and opinions. These natives can exhibit the focused, single-minded approach of a hunting tiger while simultaneously being adept at multitasking. However, their dual nature may lead to internal conflicts and oppositions. This duality also provides them with an edge to take risks and be adventurous, especially those born in the 4th pada of Vishakha. They may also possess a fascination for uncovering secrets, making them suitable for fields like science, journalism, or archaeology. However, any affliction to this nakshatra in a native's chart may show the negative side of these qualities. It is important to exercise discretion while interpreting individual horoscopes. • Anuradha (அனுஷம்): The Devoted

Placement: 03°20’ to 16°40’ of Scorpio Element: Fire (Agni) Pushkara Navamsha/Bhaga: 2nd pada/11° Anuradha, which forms a pair with its previous nakshatra Vishakha, gets its name from the phrase “Another Radha or Everything is Radha”. Radha signifies the joy and passion that arises from devotion, and the girl Radha was an ardent devotee and lover of Lord Krishna. This connection is evident in the placement of Anuradha, which lies directly opposite Rohini, the birth star of Lord Krishna. Radha's love for Krishna was so divine and intense that she ultimately merged with him. This reminds us that when we possess a strong desire, eventually we not only attain it but also become one with it. Deity: Mitra is one of the 12 Adityas, or Solar Deities, whose name means "friend" in Sanskrit. The qualities associated with Mitra include friendliness, warmth, building good relationships, light-heartedness, thinking beyond oneself, helpfulness, and team play. According to classical texts, Lord Mitra is always invoked with Lord Varuna or Aryaman during a homa/havan. Mitra enjoys being in a group and values companionship. Varuna and Aryaman are deities of the Satabisha and Uttara Phalguni nakshatras respectively, which explains the friendly relationship between these nakshatras. This is also why there is a strong connection between Anuradha and Aquarius. In the natural zodiac, Aquarius represents friendship and networking, just as Anuradha does. According to Puranas, Lord Mitra was saved by Varuna during a time of hardship, which strengthened their friendship. As a result, those born under Anuradha nakshatra may find that they are approached in a friendly manner by those born under Satabisha nakshatra. Natural healers: Ashwini, Ardra, Pushya, Hasta, Anuradha, Moola, Dhanishta, Satabishak, Revati. Symbol: Anuradha is represented by two symbols, a staff and a lotus. The staff is a symbol of penance, protection, and power, which was used by sages in Hindu puranas during their penance. It carries the powers of their penance and can be used as a tool to invoke their powers when needed. The lotus, on the other hand, is a symbol of knowledge and prosperity. The presiding deities of wealth and knowledge, Goddess Lakshmi and Saraswati, are depicted as sitting on top of the lotus flower. The lotus is known for its ability to grow out of deep muddy waters, which symbolizes Anuradha's ability to rise above even the toughest situations. Ruler: The planetary ruler of Anuradha, Shani (Saturn), embodies the qualities of persistence and hard work, as well as a desire to help and support others. With the ability to withstand deep and immense changes, Shani also exhibits a rebellious nature which is strongly reflected in this nakshatra. Animal: Anuradha is associated with the graceful and mystical female deer or doe. This beautiful animal is known for its keen senses and represents calmness and balance. Interestingly, the deer also has a connection with the neighboring nakshatras of Mrigashira and Jyeshta. Guna: Anuradha is a tamasic nakshatra that places more emphasis on understanding the nature of material existence. This nakshatra has a deep understanding of the truth, which often proves to be stranger than fiction. Anuradha has a talent for unraveling the mysteries of life and the material world. • Jyeshta (கேட்டை): The Senior

Placement: 16° 40’ to 30° 00’ of Scorpio Element: Air (Vayu) Pushkara Navamsha/Bhaga: NA Gandanta Nakshatra The Jyeshta nakshatra is comprised of three stars, one of which is the renowned Antares. As one of the brightest stars in the night sky, Antares is situated near the center of the Milky Way Galaxy, which appears as a white band in the night sky. In Sanskrit, Jyeshta signifies elder or senior, implying someone of higher status than others. Additionally, Jyeshta is the name of Jyeshta Lakshmi, the older sister of Goddess Lakshmi. According to some astrological texts, the ancients only used 18 nakshatras in astrology, and Jyeshta, as the 18th nakshatra, was considered the most senior. Symbol: The symbol of Jyeshta is a "round talisman" or "circular amulet", which is known for its magical powers and ability to provide protection against evil. In addition to this, other symbols associated with Jyeshta are the ring, earring, and umbrella. Rings and earrings were worn by ancient kings and queens as ornaments and protective gear, often inscribed with a sacred mantra or protective symbol. The umbrella, on the other hand, signifies power, protection, and dignity, and was considered a royal insignia. It also represents protection from hidden or unknown dangers such as black magic. Deity: The ruling deity of Jyeshta is Indra, the king of the heavens and ruler of all grahas and pancha bhutas. Indra is one of the 12 Adityas, solar deities worshipped for bringing rain and abundance. Although he is a protector of devas, wields a powerful weapon of thunderbolt and enjoys heavenly pleasures, he also has a tendency to act greedily which can lead to destruction of his own kingdom. When overly attached to something, Indra is said to commit misdeeds like an asura, earning him curses and punishments. Ruler: The planetary ruler of Jyeshta is Mercury, which reflects the nakshatra's dynamic and adaptable nature. As an active nakshatra, Jyeshta requires constant vigilance, a trait that is closely associated with Mercury, the youngest and most mentally active planet. Animal: The "male deer" is the animal associated with this nakshatra. It is a symbol of beauty, dominance, strength, and agility. Stags, with their impressive antlers, are known for their power and dominance. These antlers have been used in ancient Indian and Chinese medicine, as well as by Amazonian shamans, to improve blood circulation, immunity, fertility, sex hormones, and treat erectile dysfunction. Additionally, the deer is also associated with the Anuradha and Mrigashira nakshatras. Guna: This nakshatra is predominantly tamasic in nature, with a strong focus on safeguarding one's beliefs, possessions, and surroundings. As protection involves both defensive and offensive measures, this nakshatra has significant karmic implications. Power: The nakshatra represents the "Arohana Shakti", which is the power to gain courage and rise up through battle. General attributes: Jyeshta, the elder-most nakshatra, symbolizes dominance and command. As a gandanta nakshatra, it also carries karmic implications, requiring the native to repay karmic debts to progress in life. However, in doing so, one may become a strong, responsible individual. Those with a strong Jyeshta influence may excel as leaders, supervisors, or organizers and are adept at protecting their belongings, including people. They invest a great deal of energy and strength in their pursuits, sometimes becoming overly attached, as seen with Indra. In youth, they may exhibit a strong affinity towards people and things that offer protection. Due to its connection with ancient medicine, occultism, and mysticism, individuals with Jyeshta may display an interest in these areas. They exhibit high mental activity and possess a high level of flexibility, leading to early maturity. These attributes are general in nature, so reader discretion is advised. Note: The fourth pada of Jyeshta falls in the Pisces navamsha, which is considered the most karmic pada. Since both Scorpio and Pisces are water signs, there can be an excess of emotions, imagination, and even intoxication, especially when malefic planets are present. Previous Next Back

  • Moola nakshatra (மூலம்): The Root

Placement: 00° 00’ to 13° 20’ of Sagittarius Element: Air (Vayu) Pushkara Navamsha/Bhaga: NA Gandanta Nakshatra The quest for stability that begins at Swati culminates or transforms at Moola. Moola represents the center or the root of everything. The word Moola in Sanskrit means root or center. Moola nakshatra is the Black Hole (Sagittarius A*) which lies at the center of our Milky Way galaxy. When a star or nakshatra exhausts its nuclear fuel, it loses balance and collapses in on itself, ultimately becoming a black hole. While a black hole is technically considered a dead star, it is a mysterious and powerful celestial object in the universe, as everything in the galaxy is either directly or indirectly connected to it. The black hole may seem like a destructive force, but it is responsible for giving life to the entire galaxy. Ruler: The nakshatra is ruled by Ketu, the planet of liberation or moksha. Moksha refers to being free from worldly attachments, which involves destroying those attachments to transform to the next level. According to the law of nature, we become what we consume. The more we consume something, the more we transform into that thing. For instance, if someone is a keen learner, they will become a living library from which others will learn. Similarly, Jyeshta, the previous nakshatra, represents extreme attachments, while this nakshatra represents the next level of attachment, which is transformation. Ketu provides the necessary stability for this transformation. Additionally, Ketu stores your past life karmas and releases the ripe ones to be experienced in your present life, whether they are good or bad. This process is called Prarabdha Karma. Symbol: The symbol of this nakshatra is a "tied bunch of roots," which represents the central and hidden aspect of a plant or tree. Just like how the Black Hole is hidden from plain sight, roots are often overlooked but are essential for the vitality and stability of a plant or tree. Roots have also been used for medicinal purposes throughout human history. Natural healers: Ashwini, Ardra, Pushya, Hasta, Anuradha, Moola, Dhanishta, Satabisha, Revati. Deity: Moola is governed by the deity "Nirriti", who is associated with destruction. As per the Puranas, Nirriti is the goddess of destruction, representing transformation on all levels. The act of destroying something creates space for something new to emerge, which is an essential aspect of the natural order. Similar to the goddess Kali, Nirriti is associated with the destruction of negative elements and the creation of positive ones. Animal: Associated with "male dog". Dogs are among the most popular pets worldwide, known for their ability to form strong connections with humans. They are highly regarded for their loyalty, friendliness, playfulness, sharpness, agility, and protective nature when required. Guna: It is a sattvic nakshatra and the first one in the sattvic belt of nakshatras, known for its purity and divinity. Despite its association with destruction, which may seem contradictory to its sattvic nature, it is necessary to break all bonds and attachments, as emphasized by the worship of Goddess Kali. Power: This nakshatra symbolizes "Barhana Shakti", which is the power to destroy or bring about destruction. General attributes: Moola nakshatra is associated with breaking and making things, indicating that the native must let go of something in order to move to the next level and create something new. Being a gandanta nakshatra, individuals born under this nakshatra typically pay off a significant karmic debt to move forward. Moola lies at the junction of the tamasic and sattvic belt of nakshatras, which represents the transition from darkness to light. This transformation requires willpower and endurance, which are bestowed by the ruling planet and the ruling deity. As a result, people born under this nakshatra tend to be bold, sarcastic, straightforward, and active. They are also capable of grasping the central theme of any matter. Moola is known for its material prosperity, but balance is necessary to maintain stability. This can be achieved by grounding oneself and giving back to society through service or donations to charitable causes. It is important to note that these are general characteristics, and individual variations may exist. Previous Next Back

  • Purva Ashadha (பூராடம்): Best of Both Worlds

Placement: 13° 20’ to 26° 40’ of Sagittarius Element: Air (Vayu) Pushkara Navamsha/Bhaga: 3rd pada/23° Purva Ashadha, meaning "early victorious/invincible," is believed to provide sustainable energy to the sattvic nature of a soul after the destruction of entangled karmas through Moola nakshatra. As sattvic energy is unstable in this ever-changing world, Purva Ashadha provides an early access or success in everything, making it an important nakshatra. Deity: The ruling deity of this nakshatra is "Apah" or "Apas", the Goddess of water. Water symbolizes wealth and prosperity, as it has the power to create, sustain, and destroy lives. It provides clarity, structure, and strategy in its path and is essential for all living beings. Water contains the information of the planet and is considered the lifeblood of the Earth. Interestingly, water molecules are believed to have the power to store memories, as mentioned in many ancient mythologies and folklores, and may become the future of memory storage according to some modern experts. Water also has the quality of hiding or twisting everything, as seen in the way light gets scattered or twisted in water. Similarly, this nakshatra can become secretive or manipulative, especially in its fourth pada. Symbol: The nakshatra Purva Ashadha is symbolized by three main objects: a handheld fan, a winnowing basket, and an elephant tusk. The handheld fan is a representation of luxury in ancient times, as it was used by kings and queens who had human employees to fan them on either side of their throne when needed. The winnowing basket is used to separate useful grains from useless items. Finally, the elephant tusk is a symbol of power, pride, luxury, and victory. It is also associated with Lord Ganesha, who is the head of the Dev Ganas. These symbols illustrate that Purva Ashadha is about power, pride, luxury, strategy, and clarity. Ruler: The planetary ruler of Purva Ashadha is Venus (Shukra). This nakshatra blends the intuitive nature of Jupiter with the artistic qualities of Venus, resulting in an invincible energy that leads to success in all endeavors. As a result, it is known as the "early invincible one". Jupiter is the guru of the devas and Venus is the guru of the asuras. Jupiter rules Sagittarius, while Venus rules Purva Ashadha. Both are natural benefics, and when they conjoin or mutually aspect each other, it forms raj/dhan yoga in a horoscope. Since Purva Ashadha is located at the heart of the natural ninth house of fortune (Sagittarius) and has a mix of both Jupiter's and Venus's energies, it becomes a raj/dhan yoga nakshatra. Animal: The male monkey is a creature known for its intelligence and quick wit. Like dogs, monkeys are adept at learning new skills and adapting to different environments. They are also known for their mobility and frequent movement. In addition, monkeys are recognized for their loyalty and devotion to their family and social groups. Guna: Uttara Bhadrapada is a sattvic nakshatra that places great importance on acquiring luxury and comfort through knowledge and wisdom. Power: This nakshatra embodies the power of "Varcho Grahana Shakti", which is the ability to energize and empower things. General attributes: Individuals born under Purva Ashadha nakshatra possess intuitive, artistic, and charismatic qualities. They are brilliant and spiritual, especially with beneficial influences. These natives enjoy making plans and strategies and consider teaching and learning as a lifelong journey. They have a love for traveling, discussing higher knowledge, and storytelling. With benefic influences, they may act as fortune bringers. Spending time near water bodies, art galleries, museums, and attending gatherings can effectively activate the energy of this nakshatra. These individuals are capable of making well-informed judgments. Starting anything during this nakshatra is likely to result in an early outcome, especially legal proceedings, arguments, research, and similar activities.
