Future Eclipses (solar & lunar) through astrology

Predicting solar and lunar eclipse is a pretty handy technique. Once you know it you may use it for a variety of purposes. Ancient hindus were using vedic astronomy to pinpoint the date and time of the eclipses so they can perform a variety of yajnas to dissipate the negative energy associated with the occurrence of eclipses. Everytime i predict a future eclipse i get looks from people as if i predicted the end of the world. But it's not hard at all. Eclipse occurs whenever the sun and moon are in the axis of rahu and ketu because they’re the shadow grahas.

You may already know the explanation of eclipses. Solar eclipse occurs when moon is in between sun and earth, lunar eclipse occurs when earth is in between sun and moon as shown in the image below.

You can understand this easily by using a South Indian chart. Following image is a South Indian chart where you see the sun and moon are opposite to each other in taurus and scorpio axis with rahu and ketu.

Chart of 26th May, 2021 (upcoming lunar eclipse)

Step 1. Take the empty square in the middle as the earth (always)

Step 2. Find the shadow axis (rahu & ketu)

Step 3. Find the sun and the moon

Following image shows the solar eclipse because both the luminaries are on one side.

You can also find if it's a partial or full eclipse based on the distance between the luminaries and the shadows but it may not always be accurate since the software makes subtle errors in degrees. But if the shadow is within 8 degrees range from the sun then it's always a total eclipse (even if the shadow is in a different sign).

Types and interpretations

Total, partial, annular, hybrid are the varieties of eclipses that occur from time to time. No one knows exactly how to predict the different types of eclipses. But this is not the end. The interpretation part is highly difficult since there are six axes (between 12 signs) and two nodes. The sun is with rahu sometimes and with ketu the other times. So the interpretations should be based on the sign, the node, the conjunct planets and the type of eclipse. There are some common events like natural disasters and diseases mentioned in the texts which are usually advised by astrologers. But good things also happen at times especially when the society at large is under a low vibration.
